When WHWB began looking at potential projects associated with specific hazards, it became evident that one of the most widespread hazards deserving attention was inhalation exposure to respirable crystalline silica. WHWB immediately formed a silica working group to address the silica exposure control problem.
Our efforts in this area will focus on disseminating information about silica exposures, developing a silica module in collaboration with the OH Training Association to be made available through OH learning.com and a field project in silica exposure assessment and control.
The widespread e of this problem globally compelled us to begin collecting information about silica hazards and efficiently disseminating this information to interested parties around the world. We decided to develop a page of silica information links to link to the wealth of information on occupational exposures to silica that exist on the web. This portal can be found by following this link, or directly to the “Silica Information” sub-page below the Resources or Projects entries on the main menu.
