Webinar: Workplace Psychological Health and Safety

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) is sponsoring a free webinar titled Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace: Implementation and Indicators on Wednesday Apr 10 2013 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT.

This follows the release by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) of Standard Z1003-13: Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace – Prevention, Promotion, and Guidance. Although still a voluntary standard, Z-1003 will raise expectations placed on employers, with respect to protecting the psychological health and safety of workers. As part of the standard, employers implementing it will be expected to monitor the risks within their workplace. At the webinar, members of the CSA technical committee will speak about the development of the standard.

Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto is working on a project to use the results of employee engagement surveys, already in place, to develop a psychological safety risk index.

Air Sampling Pump Donation

We have been offered a donation of 5 Gilair-5 tri-mode sampling pumps plus a Dri-Cal calibrator and rotameter. The donor wants to make these available for non-profit use and will pay for shipping . If you represent or know of a group that can make good use of these pumps, please send an email to info@whwb.org by April 1. In your email, please specify how and when the recipient will use the pumps, how users have been or will be trained to use them and how they will be maintained to ensure they remain operational for as long as possible. If you are interested in being trained by WHWB in the use of the pumps, please let us know that too. We will consider all requests before making a decision on the disposition of this equipment. Also, please let us know if there is other occupational hygiene equipment you would like to obtain for non-profit purposes, as we may be receiving other donations in future.
