Free Online Occupational Health Course – March 20, 2017

Last year we announced a free online course Occupational Health in Developing Countries offered by the University of Bergen. WHWB member Ross Di Corleto has drawn our attention to the fact that the course is being offered again, with the next session starting on March 20, 2017. This free online course provides an introduction to occupational health that should be useful for many members of WHWB.

  • Over a year ago, I took the course to elevate my understanding of global occupational health issues. The course material was outstanding and the capacity to collaboration between course attendees was fantastic. In short, there are many occupational health issues in the world that most industrial hygienists or occupational health professionals rarely see. Many practitioners are focused on general industry (manufacture and process), construction, maritime, mining, etc. This full range of issues, especially for economically distressed areas of the world, lack of understanding of the issues and the economic, social and governance issues to reduce risk, and the capability to control exposures in global enterprises and undeserved populations of workers opened up my eyes to the greater need for more volunteers to help protect at-risk workers, public, and the environment from harm.
